Wilderness Maven Jennifer Ziegler describes her life-changing transition from hiking and wildcrafting to farming her own herbs for formulation:
“I really was opened up to this whole world of plants I hadn’t been exposed to before. As I continued to make salves and tinctures, extracts and infusions, there was a lot that I wanted to target specifically…different body systems and different symptoms that [required] herbs that didn’t really grow around me, or didn’t grow prolifically enough that I could harvest them sustainably in the amounts I needed. So it was really exciting to have this idea of, not only hiking out into the forest to go and harvest bucketfuls of herbs, but to really see the entire process go from seed to soil to plant to harvest and then to bottle. I just got completely absorbed in the farming side of things.”
